Litigation Legal Assistant/Paralegal
Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
Ultimate Staffing has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Litigation Legal Assistant or Paralegal to join our client's defense litigation team in their Greensboro office. This position is ideal for a seasoned litigation professional with at least five years of substantive defense-side experience who is confident, detail-oriented, and able to step into an active caseload and contribute immediately.
Responsibilities:
This role supports attorneys handling complex defense litigation, including construction litigation, mass torts, product liability defense, and commercial litigation. Plaintiff-side experience is not a fit for this position.
- Provide comprehensive litigation support for defense matters across all phases of litigation.
- Assist attorneys with case management, calendaring, deadlines, and coordination using firm billing and case management systems.
- Perform billing and time entry tasks accurately and efficiently.
- Draft, format, proofread, and prepare pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests, discovery responses, and correspondence.
- Manage all aspects of state and federal court filings, including electronic filing.
- Support attorneys with fact discovery, document production, electronic discovery, and deposition preparation.
- Participate in pre-trial, trial, and post-trial preparation, including exhibit management and logistics.
- Maintain case files, organize large volumes of documents, and ensure strict attention to detail.
- Interact professionally with attorneys, clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and vendors.
- Handle administrative and logistical duties as needed to support efficient case progression.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a litigation legal assistant and/or paralegal, preferably on the defense side.
- Demonstrated experience in construction litigation, mass torts, product liability defense, and/or commercial litigation.
- Ability to hit the ground running with minimal supervision and manage competing deadlines.
- Experience filing in North Carolina state courts and/or federal courts.
- Bachelor's degree preferred; Paralegal Certificate preferred.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel).
- Exceptional organizational, proofreading, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively as part of a team.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Compensation & Benefits:
Salary: $60,000 - $78,000 per year (commensurate with experience)
